Background: Posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction (PTTD) is a debilitating condition that leads to biomechanical changes, for which foot orthoses are often prescribed to attenuate. There is a need to improve the ability to predict these biomechanical alterations, determine the biomechanical effectiveness of foot orthoses, and anticipate their effects on individuals with PTTD during gait.

Research Question: Is the supination resistance test (SRT) reliable, and capable of predicting foot and ankle biomechanics, as well as the biomechanical effects of foot orthoses in individuals with PTTD during gait?

Methods: Twenty-one individuals with PTTD participated with supination resistance measured over two sessions.

FedKD-CPI: Combining the federated knowledge distillation technique to accomplish synergistic compound-protein interaction prediction.

School of Computer Science and Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China; Hunan Provincial Key Lab on Bioinformatics, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China.

Compound-protein interaction (CPI) prediction is critical in the early stages of drug discovery, narrowing the search space for CPIs and reducing the cost and time required for traditional high-throughput screening. However, CPI-related data are usually distributed across different institutions and their sharing is restricted because of data privacy and intellectual property rights. Constructing a scheme that enhances multi-institutional collaboration to improve prediction accuracy while protecting data privacy is essential.

Childbirth is a dynamic process involving mutual adaptation between the maternal pelvis and the presenting fetal part. The ability of the pelvis to maintain optimal mobility during labor plays a crucial role in achieving favorable obstetric outcomes. The pubic arch angle (PAA) increases amplitude during pregnancy, showing pelvic tissue adjustment.

Mice develop obesity and lose myocardial metabolic flexibility months after exertional heat stroke.

Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Performance, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA.

As global temperatures rise, heat-related chronic health disorders are predicted to become more prevalent. We tested whether a single exposure to acute heat illness, using a preclinical mouse model of exertional heat stroke (EHS), can induce late-emerging health disorders that progress into chronic disease. Following EHS, mice were followed for 3 months; after two weeks of recovery, half were placed on a Western diet to determine if previous EHS exposure amplifies the negative consequences of an atherogenic diet.
