Fetal Ascites: Its Prenatal Management and Postnatal Outcome.

Objective: To report a single tertiary center experience in the management of prenatally diagnosed cases of fetal ascites and their postnatal outcomes.

Methods: Prenatally diagnosed fetal ascites cases were retrospectively analyzed from 2015 to 2022 using two-dimensional ultrasound with other investigations as required in a tertiary care center.

Results: Of 126 fetuses with fetal ascites, 70 progressed to hydrops and hence were excluded from the study.

Complications of twin pregnancy such as twin anemia-polycythemia sequence (TAPS), which involve placental anastomotic vessels, occur mostly in monochorionic diamniotic twins and they have rarely been reported in dichorionic diamniotic (DD) twins. Here, we report a case of DD twins diagnosed with TAPS with fetal hydrops caused by fetal anemia at 28 weeks, which resolved spontaneously during pregnancy. A 37-year-old pregnant woman was referred to our hospital because of a twin pregnancy at 13 weeks.

Prenatal-Postnatal Outcomes and Prognostic Risk Factors of Fetal Volvulus: Analysis of 26 Cases.

Objective: The aim of the current study was to reveal ultrasonographic and clinical features, prenatal-postnatal outcomes and prognostic risk factors of fetal volvulus.

Method: This retrospective study evaluated all cases of fetal volvulus diagnosed between 2018 and 2024 at the Perinatology center of Zeynep Kamil Women and Children Diseases Training and Research Hospital. In the vast majority of cases, the pediatric surgery team confirmed the conclusive diagnosis of volvulus during the postnatal period.

Meconium peritonitis (MP) as a cause of non-immune hydrops in neonates is rarely reported. We present a case of a 35-week gestational-age male neonate diagnosed with hydrops secondary to MP. Antenatal scan at 34 weeks and five days revealed features of fetal hydrops, and the prenatal workup did not reveal the etiology.
