Background: The prevalence of positive cultures in primarily operated shoulders represents a growing concern. Previous studies have documented high rates of culture positivity in primary prosthetic shoulder surgery, yet the Latarjet procedure has not been specifically explored in this context. The aim of this study was to identify the rate of culture positivity in patients treated with a primary Latarjet procedure, and to identify risk factors for culture positivity.

Background: For decades, poor treatment options and low-quality evidence plagued care for patients with rifampin-resistant tuberculosis. The advent of new drugs to treat tuberculosis and enhanced funding now permit randomized, controlled trials of shortened-duration, all-oral treatments for rifampin-resistant tuberculosis.
Methods: We conducted a phase 3, multinational, open-label, randomized, controlled noninferiority trial to compare standard therapy for treatment of fluoroquinolone-susceptible, rifampin-resistant tuberculosis with five 9-month oral regimens that included various combinations of bedaquiline (B), delamanid (D), linezolid (L), levofloxacin (Lfx) or moxifloxacin (M), clofazimine (C), and pyrazinamide (Z).
Isolation of Soil Microorganisms Using iChip Technology.

The iChip isolation technique uses an in-situ isolation device that increases the cultivability of previously unculturable microorganisms. Microorganisms are an important source of novel chemistries and potentially bioactive molecules. However, only 1% of environmental microorganisms can be cultured using conventional laboratory methods.

This article explores the link between traumatic infections caused by road traffic accidents (RTAs) leading to coma and the development of chest infections caused by extensively drug-resistant (XDR) <i>Klebsiella pneumoniae</i> and <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i>. <b>Materials and Methods:</b> The study was carried out from March to December 2022 which included a 45-year-old male patient admitted to the ICU of Al Ramadi Teaching Hospitals following a severe RTA that resulted in a TBI and subsequent coma.

Objectives: To assess tuberculosis (TB) and associated factors among patients with presumptive TB with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted from January to December 2023 among 381 patients with CKD attending six hospitals found in five regions of Ethiopia. Sputum and urine specimens were collected and examined for TB using smear microscopy, culture, and Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra assay.
