Introduction: Liver cirrhosis (LC) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) resulting from chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection are major health concerns. Identifying critical biomarkers and molecular targets is needed for early diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy of these diseases.
Methods: In this study, we explored the gene expression and metabolism in the liver tissues of LC, HCC, and healthy controls, to analyse and identify potential biomarkers of disease progression.

However, increasing concerns about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the toxicological safety of these substances have prompted a deeper examination of their broader impacts on animal and human health. This study investigates the toxicological effects of antibiotics and coccidiostats on the gut-brain axis and microbiota in turkeys, with a particular focus on molecular mechanisms that may influence neurochemical and inflammatory responses.

Introduction/aims: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy affects small nerve fibers early, but adequate evaluation has proven difficult. One method for functional assessment of small nerve fiber function is the axon-reflex flare (ARF) response. This study aimed to 1) validate the histamine-induced ARF response in a nonselected population with diabetes, 2) compare the response to that induced by local heating, and 3) compare both methods to an established method (quantitative sensory testing) in a nonselected population with diabetes.

Background: Mastocytosis is a systemic disease involving the clonal expansion of mast cells in multiple organs. Given that immune system overreaction and excessive histamine release are among the most prominent events in mastocytosis, the incidence of complications caused by immune reactions is expected to increase across various organs. While systemic manifestations of mastocytosis have been reported frequently, cardiac complications are less often discussed.
