Background: Although there is evidence that indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) can predict mastectomy skin flap necrosis during breast reconstruction, consensus on optimal protocol is lacking. This study aimed to evaluate various technical factors which can influence ICG fluorescence intensity and thus interpretation of angiograms.

Method: Single institution retrospective study (2015-2021) of immediate implant-based breast reconstructions postmastectomy using a standardized technique of ICGA, controlling for modifiable factors of ambient lighting, camera distance and ICG dose.

Objective: The escalating prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) overwhelms healthcare systems. Lifestyle interventions enhancing patient monitoring and adherence vary in efficacy, emphasizing the need to understand differential response across patient subgroups. This study aimed to segment patients with T2DM into distinct latent classes and identify characteristics associated with optimal 12-month glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) reduction.

The chest X-ray (CXR) has a wide range of clinical indications in the field of cardiology, from the assessment of acute pathology to disease surveillance and screening. Despite many technological advancements, CXR interpretation error rates have remained constant for decades. The application of machine learning has the potential to substantially improve clinical workflow efficiency, pathology detection accuracy, error rates and clinical decision making in cardiology.

Fluorinated phenyl azides (FPA) enable photo-structuring of π-conjugated polymer films for electronic device applications. Despite their potential, FPAs have faced limitations regarding their crosslinking efficiency, and more importantly, their impact on critical semiconductor properties, such as charge-carrier mobility. Here, we report that azide photolysis and photocrosslinking can achieve unity quantum efficiencies for specific FPAs.

Photodynamic therapy is an anti-cancer treatment that requires illumination of photosensitizers to induce local cell death. Current near-infrared organic photosensitizers are built from large and non-modular structures that cannot be tuned to improve safety and minimize off-target toxicity. This work describes a novel chemical platform to generate enzyme-activatable near-infrared photosensitizers.
