Scapho-metacarpal dual mobility prosthesis for TMC-1 joint salvage: technical insights.

Arch Orthop Trauma Surg

January 2025

BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, Department of Hand-, Replantation- and Microsurgery and Chair of Hand-, Replantation- and Microsurgery, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Berlin, Germany.

Introduction: Rhizarthrosis, or osteoarthritis of the trapeziometacarpal joint, predominantly affects women over 50, with up to 30% experiencing some degree of arthritis in this joint. Traditional surgical approaches, such as trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction, can result in some patients in persistent pain or limited functionality. TMC ball-in-socket arthroplasty, with a cup placed in the distal scaphoid, offers a promising alternative to traditional arthrodesis or resection-suspension arthroplasty.

Gavin Herbert Eye Institute - Center for Translational Vision Research, Department of Ophthalmology, University of California, Irvine, Irvine, California 92697, United States.

Arrestins halt signal transduction by binding to the phosphorylated C-termini of activated G protein-coupled receptors. Arrestin-1, the first subtype discovered, binds to rhodopsin in rod cells. Mutations in , the gene encoding Arrestin-1, are linked to Oguchi disease, characterized by delayed dark adaptation.

Free fillet flap: Outcomes in emergency microsurgical reconstruction of upper and lower limb.

J Plast Reconstr Aesthet Surg

December 2024

Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Hospital Universitario 'La Paz' FIBHULP-IdiPaz, Paseo de la Castellana, 261, 28046 Madrid, Spain. Electronic address:

Introduction: Despite its infrequency, 'spare-part surgery' represents a reconstructive strategy that uses segments of amputated limbs as donor tissue to preserve function in other injured anatomical regions. The purpose of this study was to review our 14-year experience in emergency microsurgical reconstruction of traumatised limbs using free fillet flaps obtained from non-salvageable amputated parts.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted on patients who underwent urgent free fillet flap transfer for upper or lower limb reconstruction between 2007 and 2021.
