High-velocity traumatic amputations of the proximal upper extremity are devastating to the patient and represent an extreme surgical challenge to the treatment team. The hand surgeon must simultaneously battle devascularization with timely microvascular anastomosis, gross contamination with meticulous debridement, and amputation with stable fixation. In restoring a functional extremity, many of these goals are in contention with each other.

Introduction: Owing to its high prevalence, colossal potential of chemoresistance, metastasis, and relapse, breast cancer (BC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in women. Several treatments (eg, chemotherapy, surgery, radiations, hormonal therapy, etc.) are conventionally prescribed for the treatment of BC; however, these are associated with serious systemic aftermaths.

CAN-2409 is a replication-defective adenovirus that delivers the herpes simplex virus (HSV)-thymidine kinase gene to infected cells. Intratumoral administration of CAN-2409 followed by prodrug results in the formation of a toxic metabolite able to induce immunogenic cell death, exposure of tumor-associated antigens, and activation of local and systemic immune responses. We used a dynamic labeling model with MC38 tumor cells implanted in photoconvertible Kaede mice.

Background: Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) poses a significant challenge in clinical environments due to its resistance to standard antibiotics. Protein A (SpA), a crucial virulence factor of MRSA, undermines host immune responses, making it an attractive target for vaccine development. This study aimed to identify potential epitopes within SpA that could elicit robust immune responses, ultimately contributing to the combat against multidrug-resistant (MDR) MRSA.

Tumor microenvironment governs various therapeutic tolerability of cancer such as ferroptosis and immunotherapy through rewiring tumor metabolic reprogramming like Warburg metabolism. Highly expressed carbonic anhydrases (CA) in tumor that maintaining the delicate metabolic homeostasis is thus the most potential target to be modulated to resolve the therapeutic tolerability. Hence, in this article, a self-healable and pH-responsive spermidine/ferrous ion hydrogel loaded with CA inhibitor (acetazolamide, ACZ) and glucose oxidase (ACZ/GOx@SPM-HA Gel) was fabricated through the Schiff-base reaction between spermidine-dextran and oxidized hyaluronic acid, along with ferrous coordination.
