Background: There is uncertainty about the use of the CHA2DS2-VASc score to predict clinical events in patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TTS). This study aimed to assess the short-term prognostic role of CHA2DS2-VASc score in this population.
Methods: All admissions with a primary diagnosis of TTS were included using data from the National Inpatient Sample database during 2016-2019.

Rationale: The Chemical Optimization of Cerebral Embolectomy (CHOICE) trial suggested that the administration of intra-arterial alteplase after successful endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) may improve neurological outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (AIS-LVO) in the anterior circulation. However, the use of adjunctive intra-arterial alteplase following successful EVT in acute posterior circulation stroke remains unexplored.
Aims: This study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of intra-arterial alteplase after successful EVT for AIS-LVO in the posterior circulation.

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk calculators estimate the 10-year incident risk of myocardial infarction (MI), coronary artery disease (CAD) death, or stroke; however, they lack comprehensiveness and accuracy. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) is a surrogate marker that may improve risk estimation acumen. The objective of this study was to derive ASCVD risk scores from historical data and determine whether these risk scores are associated with the history of subclinical CAD and CIMT.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) remain a significant global health burden, particularly in China, where kidney dysfunction (KD) is a key risk factor. This study analyzed trends in the burden of KD-induced CVD and subtypes among the working-age population (25-64 years) in China over the past 30 years and explored its association with age, period, and birth cohort.
Methods: This study extracted data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021, focusing on deaths and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) caused by KD-induced CVD and subtypes, including ischemic heart disease (IHD), stroke, and lower extremity peripheral artery disease (LEPAD) among 25-64 years globally and in China from 1992 to 2021.

Background: Stroke, a cerebrovascular condition, and neurodegenerative diseases (ND) like Dementia, Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis are major types of neurological disorders, which are associated with increasing global morbidity and mortality burden. But to what extent shared genetic architecture is involved between stroke and ND is unknown.
Method: We investigated shared genetics between stroke (10 subtypes) and ND (6 diseases) using large scale Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) summary statistics data for Cross-Ancestry, European and South Asian samples including Indians.
