The prevalence of coniferous trees in the forest landscapes of northeastern Siberia is conditioned by their high frost resistance. The Kajander larch ( Mayr), which can survive under natural conditions (down to -60 °C) in the cryolithozone of Yakutia, is the dominant forest-forming species. We hypothesise that our study using HPTLC-UV/Vis/FLD, TLC-GC/FID, and GC-MS methods of seasonal features of the lipid profile of Kajander larch tissues will bring us closer to understanding the mechanisms of participation of lipid components in the adaptation of this valuable tree species to the cold climate of the cryolithozone.

Effect of Selenium, Copper and Manganese Nanocomposites in Arabinogalactan Matrix on Potato Colonization by Phytopathogens and .

Plants (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding, Faculty of Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology, Georg-August University of Göttingen, 37077 Göttingen, Germany.

The effect of chemically synthesized nanocomposites (NCs) of selenium (Se/AG NC), copper oxide (Cu/AG NC) and manganese hydroxide (Mn/AG NC), based on the natural polymer arabinogalactan (AG), on the processes of growth, development and colonization of potato plants in vitro was studied upon infection with the causative agent of potato blackleg-the Gram-negative bacterium -and the causative agent of ring rot-the Gram-positive bacterium (). It was shown that the infection of potatoes with reduced the root formation of plants and the concentration of pigments in leaf tissues. The treatment of plants with Cu/AG NC before infection with stimulated leaf formation and increased the concentration of pigments in them.

Homologous recombination repair deficiency (HRD) is involved in the development of high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and its elevated sensitivity to platinum-based chemotherapy. To investigate the heterogeneity of the HRD-positive HGSOC we evaluated the HRD status, including BRCA mutations, genomic scar score, and methylation status of genes in 352 HGSOC specimens. We then divided the HRD-positive cohort into three molecular subgroups, the BRCA mutation cohort (BRCA+), BRCA1 methylation cohort (Meth+), and the rest of the HRD+ cohort (HRD+BRCA-Meth-), and evaluated their first-line chemotherapy response, benefit from olaparib, and progression-free survival (PFS).

Solar ultraviolet (UV) is among the most important ecological factors shaping the composition of biota on the planet's surface, including the upper layers of waterbodies. Inhabitants of dark environments recently evolving from surface organisms provide natural opportunities to study the evolutionary losses of UV adaptation mechanisms and better understand how those mechanisms function at the biochemical level. The ancient Lake Baikal is the only freshwater reservoir where deep-water fauna emerged, and its diverse endemic amphipods (Amphipoda, Crustacea) now inhabit the whole range from highly transparent littoral to dark depths of over 1600 m, which makes them a convenient model to study UV adaptation.
