Background: This study evaluates the efficacy of carbon fiber reinforced Polyetheretherketone (Cfr-PEEK) in fixation after sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) by comparing it with titanium in vitro.
Methods: Twenty-eight sheep hemimandibles were randomly assigned to four groups for SSRO surgery. Fixation was performed with a 4-hole titanium mini plate for 5 mm advancement in Group 1, with a 4-hole Cfr-PEEK mini plate for 5 mm advancement for Group 2, with a 4-hole titanium mini plate for 10 mm advancement for Group 3, and with a 4-hole Cfr-PEEK mini plate for 10 mm advancement for Group 4.

Extended temporomandibular joint reconstruction (eTMJR) can be described as a refined approach to conventional temporomandibular joint reconstruction (TMJR) designed to address both the articulating components of the TMJ and associated mandibular segmental defects or defects in the skull base. Extended temporomandibular joint reconstruction (eTMJR) combined with the advancement in VSP not only offers improved functional and esthetic outcomes but also signifies a significant leap forward in the realm of TMJR interventions. In comparison to autogenous grafts, alloplastic pro$stheses exhibit superior outcomes concerning MIO, pain management, and dietary functionality, underscoring their potential as the preferred treatment modality.

Periodontal regeneration is a multifaceted therapeutic approach to restore the tooth-supporting structures lost due to periodontal diseases. This manuscript explores the intricate interactions between regenerative therapies and the oral microbiome, emphasizing the critical role of microbial balance in achieving long-term success. While guided tissue regeneration (GTR), bone grafting, and soft tissue grafting offer promising outcomes in terms of tissue regeneration, these procedures can inadvertently alter the oral microbial ecosystem, potentially leading to dysbiosis or pathogenic recolonization.
