The heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones mediates the folding and activation of ~ 400 client proteins, many of which contribute to oncogenesis. As a result, Hsp90 pan-inhibitors, which inhibit all four Hsp90 isoforms, have been investigated in the clinic for the treatment of cancer. Unfortunately, detrimental side effects were observed and hindered the clinical development of pan-Hsp90 inhibitors.

Background/aims: To report the long-term visual outcomes and side effects in patients with small choroidal melanoma (CM) undergoing ruthenium-106 (Ru-106) plaque brachytherapy.
Methods: Retrospective, interventional, consecutive series of small CM ≤2.5 mm in height and ≤16 mm in largest basal diameter treated with Ru-106 plaque with a median radiation dose of 100 Gy prescribed to tumour apical height.

Glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness, demands innovative and effective treatments that surpass the limitations of current drug and surgical interventions to lower intraocular pressure. This study describes the generation of cell-repellent hydrogel patches, their deposition on the ocular surface, and a photoinduced chemical binding between the patches and the collagens of the eye. The hydrophilic and protein-repellent hydrogel patch is composed of a copolymer made from dimethylacrylamide and a comonomer unit with anthraquinone moieties.

Purpose: Dupilumab is a widely recommended treatment for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD), with known ocular side effects but less frequent cutaneous reactions.
Material And Methods: This case report details a 52-year-old female patient with atopic dermatitis treated with dupilumab. After an initially successful treatment, the patient developed a rosacea-like dermatitis.

But with these new drugs, patients, caregivers and medical oncologist have to face new toxicities, quite different from the side effects of conventional chemotherapy.
