Accurate enumeration of mosquito eggs is crucial for various entomologic studies, including investigations into mosquito fecundity, life history traits, and vector control strategies. Traditional manual counting methods are labor intensive and prone to human error, highlighting the need for automated systems. This study presents a stand-alone automated mosquito egg counting system using a Raspberry Pi computer, high-quality camera, light-emitting diode ring light source, and a Python script leveraging the Open Source Computer Vision library.

Quarterly data summaries from faecal worm egg count testing (FWECT) performed by UK laboratories have appeared in Equine Quarterly Disease Surveillance Reports (EQDSR) since 2007, but have not previously been assessed.
Objectives: To assess strongyle FWECT methods and thresholds used by UK laboratories.

Preimplantation embryonic development is orchestrated by dynamic changes in the proteome and transcriptome, regulated by mechanisms such as maternal-to-zygotic transition. Here, we employed label-free quantitative proteomics to comprehensively analyze proteome dynamics from germinal vesicle oocytes to blastocysts in mouse embryos. We identified 3490 proteins, including 715 consistently detected across all stages, revealing stage-specific changes in proteins associated with translation, protein modification, and mitochondrial metabolism.
