Introduction: Ocular pain is a common complaint to eye care providers, associated with a variety of ocular conditions, among which dry eye disease (DED) is affecting millions of people worldwide. Despite being highly prevalent, ocular pain is not managed adequately in the clinic.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the analgesic potential of neurokinin-1 receptor (NK1R) antagonism in DED.

Objective: The neuropeptide calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) has been established to be a key signaling molecule in migraine, but little is known about the differences between the two isoforms: αCGRP and βCGRP. Previous studies have been hampered by their close similarity, making the development of specific antibodies nearly impossible. In this study we sought to test the hypothesis that αCGRP and βCGRP localize differently within the neurons of the mouse trigeminal ganglion (TG), using αCGRP knock out (KO) animals.

Purpose: To describe a case in which a right replaced posterior cerebral artery (PCA) was associated with an ipsilateral superior cerebellar artery (SCA) type persistent trigeminal artery (PTA) variant.

Methods: A 53-year-old man who had been diagnosed with chronic dissection of the left vertebral artery (VA) 4 months previously underwent follow-up magnetic resonance (MR) angiography using a 3-Tesla scanner.

Results: MR angiography showed a slightly dilated left VA at the terminal segment without interval change.

Neuroradiology Unit, Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale-IRCCS di Reggio Emilia, Viale Risorgimento 80, 42123 Reggio Emilia, Italy.

The so-called trigeminal pontine sign has been described as a marker of different diseases, from multiple sclerosis to herpetic infections. First, it has been proposed as linear hyperintensity in the pons on the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of patients with multiple sclerosis and trigeminal neuralgia. After these descriptions, it has been reported as incidental findings in the same patients and in patients with HSV or VZV infections.

Feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1), a member of the Herpesviridae family, is one of the most important pathogens that causes upper respiratory tract disease in felines. Following infection, FHV-1 can spread retrogradely to the trigeminal ganglia, establishing a life-long latency. Although vaccines are available for routine feline vaccination, FHV-1 is still an agent that poses a serious threat to feline health.
