Salt stress is an important factor affecting the growth and development of rice, and prohexadione calcium (Pro-Ca) plays an important role in alleviating rice salt stress and improving rice yield. However, there are few studies on how Pro-Ca improves rice yield under salt stress by regulating the source-sink metabolism. In this study, we used Guanghong 3 (salt-tolerant variety) and Huanghuazhan (salt-sensitive variety) as experimental materials to investigate the dynamic changes in the synthesis and partitioning of nonstructural carbohydrates among source-sink, the dynamic changes in related enzyme activities, the effects of the source-sink metabolism on yield in rice under salt stress and the effect of Pro-Ca during the filling period.

This study investigated the effects of bisphenol A (BPA) and the involvement of nuclear estrogen receptors (ESR) on testicular energy metabolism and spermatogenesis in zebrafish. Testes were incubated with DMSO, 10 pM or 10μM BPA for 6 or 72h, with some samples pre-incubated with the ESRα/β antagonist ICI 182,780. Gene and protein expressions were analyzed using real-time PCR and Western blot, respectively.

Purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP) deficiency is one of the very rare types of immune deficiency disorders inherited in an autosomal recessive (AR) manner. PNP deficiency is a progressive immune disorder that can range from severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) to combined immunodeficiency and is associated with recurrent infections, neurological manifestations, and sometimes autoimmune disorders. In our case, we describe the case of a female patient, two years and six months old, with recurrent infections, severe neutropenia, failure to thrive, and a history of a deceased sister with the same condition.

Synthetic lethality offers a robust strategy for discovering the next generation of precision medicine therapies tailored for molecularly defined patient populations. MAT2A inhibition is synthetically lethal in several cancers that exhibit a homozygous deletion of -methyl-5'-thioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP). Herein, we report the identification of novel MAT2A inhibitors featuring a spiral ring to circumvent the C-N atropisomeric chirality utilizing structure-based drug design.

Aerobic exercise (AE) is associated with a significant hypoglycemia risk in individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). However, the mechanisms in the liver and skeletal muscle governing exercise-induced hypoglycemia in T1DM are poorly understood. This study examined the effects of a 60-minute bout of AE on hepatic and muscle glucose metabolism in T1DM rats.
