A potential link has been reported between skin exposure to aromatic amines, such as ortho-toluidine (OT) and 3,3'-dichloro-4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (MOCA), and bladder cancer cases observed in Japanese chemical factories. To evaluate this association, we explored the permeability of OT and MOCA through pig skin and investigated the subsequent changes in plasma and urine concentrations in rats following percutaneous exposure. Employing Yucatan micropig skin, we first executed a permeability test by affixing the skin to a diffusion cell and applying 14C-labeled OT or MOCA.

Detection of trace gases, such as radioactive carbon dioxide, clumped isotopes, and reactive radicals, is of great interest and poses significant challenges in various fields. Achieving both high selectivity and high sensitivity is essential in this context. We present a highly selective molecular spectroscopy method based on comb-locked, mid-infrared, cavity-enhanced, two-photon absorption.

Reclaimed water plays a pivotal role in addressing water scarcity and pollution. The carbon (C) cycle significantly impacts aquatic ecosystems and water quality, yet the C biogeochemical cycle in nutrient-rich reclaimed water remains enigmatic. This study focuses on reclaimed water, developing a conceptual biogeochemical mass balance model to examine C cycling and assess the C budget in the highly eutrophic Jian and Chaobai rivers.

Background: Elinzanetant is a dual neurokinin-1,3 receptor antagonist in development for the treatment of menopausal vasomotor symptoms. The objectives of these studies were to characterize the mass balance and biotransformation of elinzanetant.
Methods: In the clinical evaluation, whole blood, plasma, urine, and feces were collected from healthy fasted male volunteers (n = 6) following a single dose of 120 mg [C]-elinzanetant oral suspension for analysis of total radioactivity and metabolite profiling.

A holder has been developed that enables electron yield-detected soft X-ray spectroscopy of fully contained samples at low temperature. Crucially, this design uses elements of the sample containment to collect ejected electrons, removing the need to expose samples directly to the vacuum environment of the spectrometer. The design is modular and should be adaptable to a number of different endstation configurations, enabling spectroscopy of air-sensitive, radioactive and vacuum-sensitive (biological) samples.
