Introduction: The aim of the study is to determine the role of upper motor neuron (UMN) or lower motor neuron (LMN) dysfunction as the primary initiator of distal-proximal and lateral-medial gradients of muscle involvement in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Methods: Concentric needle electromyography recordings were performed in deltoid, abductor digiti minimi, and first dorsal interosseous (FDI) muscles in patients with ALS and controls during slight voluntary contraction needed to activate two motor units (MU). Five motor unit potential (MUP) pairs were recorded from each muscle.

Background: This study is a randomized controlled, biopsychosocial study investigating the effectiveness of pain neuroscience education (PNE) and motor imagery-based exercise protocol (MIEP) on fibromyalgia pain.
Methods: Our study has four groups (MIEP n = 12, PNE n = 12, MIEP + PNE n = 14, Control n = 12) and all participants (n = 50) consist of patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia with chronic back pain. The primary outcome measure was pain intensity, and secondary outcome measures were beliefs, kinesiophobia, anxiety-depression, cognitive-mood, self-esteem, and body awareness.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the gradual deterioration of brain structures and changes in hemispheric asymmetry. Meanwhile, healthy aging is associated with a decrease in functional hemispheric asymmetry. In this study, functional connectivity analysis was used to compare the functional hemispheric asymmetry in eyes-open resting-state fNIRS data of 16 healthy elderly controls (mean age: 60.

We propose a novel approach for the reconstruction of functional networks representing brain dynamics based on the idea that the coparticipation of two brain regions in a common cognitive task should result in a drop in their identifiability, or in the uniqueness of their dynamics. This identifiability is estimated through the score obtained by deep learning models in supervised classification tasks and therefore requires no a priori assumptions about the nature of such coparticipation. The method is tested on EEG recordings obtained from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease patients, and matched healthy volunteers, for eyes-open and eyes-closed resting-state conditions, and the resulting functional networks are analysed through standard topological metrics.

Miners working underground face some risk factors that affect the nervous system-such as high noise, dark environment, chronic stress, and exposure to toxic gases. However, it is not known whether these risk factors affect the cognition of miners. In this study, the cognitive changes of miners were examined through event-related oscillations via electroencephalogram (EEG).
