Many chronic medical conditions that can result from poor nutrition are more prevalent in the incarcerated population than in the general population. With the increasing prevalence of chronic medical conditions and limited knowledge on foods accessible to the population, this study assessed the 4-week menu fed to all incarcerated males at state-run facilities in Alabama. Compared with the Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range for the average incarcerated male, the percentage of energy from total fat, saturated fat, sodium, and cholesterol exceeded the recommendation.

Introduction: Preterm infants are at high risk of developing α-tocopherol deficiency, since fat depots are low, intake may be insufficient, malabsorption may coexist, and dietary needs are high. Data on predictors of low α-tocopherol are still limited. Thus, this study aimed to assess the levels of α-tocopherol in preterm infants at birth and explore its anthropometric predictors.

Objective: To characterize food group consumption, assess the contribution of food groups to energy and micronutrient intake, and estimate usual nutrient intake among adults in rural Sri Lanka.
Design: A baseline survey (Dec 2020-Feb 2021) was conducted as part of an agriculture-based, nutrition-sensitive resilience program evaluation. Dietary intake was assessed using telephone-based 24-hour recalls (n=1283), with repeat recalls from 769 participants.
Insights into diet, psychological distress, and personality traits among patients with lower-extremity lymphedema and overweight/obesity in comparison to patients with lifestyle-induced overweight/obesity and patients with normal body weight.

This case-control study aimed to compare nutrient intake, depressive symptoms, and Eysenck's personality traits in patients with lower extremity lymphedema and overweight/obesity (n = 34) in comparison to patients with lifestyle-induced overweight/obesity (n = 30) and patients with normal body weight (n = 30).
