: This study aimed to design and evaluate Chol-PEG micelles and Chol-PEG vesicles as drug delivery system (DDS) carriers and inhibitors of amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation, a key factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD). : The physical properties of Chol-PEG assemblies were characterized using dynamic light scattering (DLS), electrophoretic light scattering (ELS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Inhibitory effects on Aβ aggregation were assessed via thioflavin T (ThT) assay, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, and native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (native-PAGE).

Protein glycosylation has been considered as a fundamental phenomenon shared by all domains of life. In , glycosylation of flagellins A and B with pseudaminic acid have been rigorously confirmed and shown to be essential for flagella assembly and bacterial colonization. In addition to flagellins, several other proteins including RecA, AlpA/B, and BabA/B in have also been reported to be glycosylated and to be dependent on the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) biosynthetic pathway.

Electronic address:

Sodium dodecyl sulfate capillary gel electrophoresis (SDS-CGE) is a frequently used analytical technique in size-based separation of proteins, playing a vital role in the biopharmaceutical industry for the analysis and characterization of therapeutic proteins, employing both UV and fluorescent detection. Understanding the effect of the operational parameters using easily applicable in migratio fluorescent labeling is increasingly critical, especially because multicapillary electrophoresis systems with fluorescent detection have recently gained prominence in high-throughput biopolymer analysis. In this study, the effects of the three most important user-adjustable operational parameters (temperature, gel concentration, and electric field strength) were investigated on the electrophoretic mobility and resolution of SDS-protein complexes in the presence of propidium iodide in the gel-buffer system.

Oligogenic effect is associated with the clinical heterogeneity of autosomal dominant deafness-15.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Center for Medical Genetics, Hunan Key Laboratory of Medical Genetics, MOE Key Lab of Rare Pediatric Diseases, School of Life Sciences, Central South University, Changsha, 410000, Hunan, China.

Autosomal dominant deafness-15 which is caused by mutation in the POU4F3 gene, has been reported with a wide degree of clinical heterogeneity, even between intrafamilial members. However, the reason is still elusive. In this study, A four-generation Chinese family with 11 patients manifesting late-onset progressive non-syndromic hearing loss was recruited.
