This retrospective case study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of collagen matrix (DuraGen) in preventing subcutaneous emphysema, a common complication following dorsal rhinotomy. Six client-owned dogs diagnosed with nasal masses using computed tomography were included in this study. Dorsal rhinotomy was performed, and a collagen matrix was used to seal bone defects before fixation of the nasal bone flap.

Introduction And Objectives: Nasal dermoids are uncommon midline congenital lesions in the nose, usually diagnosed in the first years of life. Imaging is mandatory to evaluate local and intracranial extension and treatment consists in surgical excision.
