Background: Hemorrhages, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) fistula and infections are the most challenging postoperative complications in Neurosurgery. In this study, we report our preliminary results using a fully autologous fibrin sealant agent, the Vivostat(®) system, in achieving hemostasis and CSF leakage repair during cranio-cerebral procedures.

Peculiarities of clinical course and approaches to surgical treatment were studied in patients, suffering isolated cranio-cerebral trauma (CCT); new approaches were elaborated, permitting to improve outcome of epidural hematoma (EG) in surgical treatment of the patients. For isolated CCT 188 patients there were operated on, EG was revealed in 83 (44.1%) of them.

The late sequel of cranio-cerebral trauma are common causes of decreased mental capability and pathology localized in frontal lobes which can cause the dysexecutive syndrome (the individual has a goal but has difficulty in generating or activating the appropriate goal directed behavior). We analysed 58 patients, random-chosen, treated in the Neurotraumatology Department in Kraków after craniocerebral injury. Among them, 6 patients were found who scored more than average in DEX questionnaire.
