MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are classified as small, non-coding RNAs that play crucial roles in diverse biological processes, including cellular development, differentiation, growth, and metabolism. MiRNAs regulate gene expression by recognizing complementary sequences within messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules. Recent studies have revealed that miR-145-5p functions as a tumor suppressor in several cancers, including lung, liver, and breast cancers.

Biliary and pancreatic tract stenosis are hallmark symptoms in pancreaticobiliary diseases, transcending malignancy. Endoscopic techniques are pivotal for biliary/pancreatic drainage; however, challenging scenarios arise when attempting to pass a guidewire (GW) through obstruction. Cholangioscopy-assisted GW placement has proven valuable, but challenges persist in its execution, particularly in maneuvering the GW through cholangioscopy.

Trichobezoar or hairball in the proximal part of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare condition that occurs mainly in young and adolescent females. Since human hair is resistant to digestive enzymes and resistant to peristalsis, it easily accumulates between the folds of the mucosa. Over time, food and mucus accumulate within the hair, forming a compact mass that fills almost the entire lumen.

This systematic review explores the association between herpes zoster (HZ) infection and Ogilvie's syndrome (acute colonic pseudo-obstruction), evaluating how varicella-zoster virus (VZV) reactivation may contribute to autonomic dysfunction leading to intestinal obstruction. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases up to October 2024, in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Eligible studies included case reports, clinical images, and letters reporting Ogilvie's syndrome secondary to HZ or VZV infection.
