Nephrology Department, Jiangxi Provincial Key Research Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Key Research Laboratory of Chronic Renal Failure, Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nanchang, Jiangxi 330006, China.

This study aimed to investigate the potential mechanisms of puerarin in alleviating diabetic nephropathy (DKD) in mice. The DKD model was induced by multiple low-dose injections of streptozotocin (STZ) and a high-sugar and high-fat diet in male C57BL/6J mice. After confirming the onset of DKD, mice were given irbesartan, distilled water, or different concentrations of puerarin (40 and 80 mg/kg/d) by gavage for 8 weeks.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of pre-conditioning exercise on body lipid metabolism, leptin secretion, and the downstream pathways at the early stage of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Materials And Methods: The T2DM model was established using an 8-week high-sugar, high-fat diet combined. The T2DM model was established using an 8-week high-sugar, high-fat diet combined with streptozocin (STZ) injection.

Objective: This study investigates the protective effects of lactic acid, a metabolite of , on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) induced by a high-sugar, high-fat diet (HFD) in mice, in the context of the gut-liver axis.

Methods: A NAFLD mouse model was established using a HFD, and different intervention groups were set up to study the protective effects of and its metabolite lactic acid. The groups included a control group, NAFLD group, treatment group, Glyceraldehyde-3-P (G-3P) co-treatment group, and NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) overexpression group.

High sugar intake, particularly fructose, is implicated in obesity and metabolic complications. On the other hand, fructose from fruits and vegetables has undisputed benefits for metabolic health. This raises a paradoxical question-how the same fructose molecule can be associated with detrimental health effects in some studies and beneficial in others.

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MS) refers to a cluster of metabolic disorders characterized by systemic chronic inflammation. Er Miao San (EMS) is a classic traditional Chinese medicine compound containing Phellodendron amurense and Atractylodis rhizome at a ratio of 1:1, proven to be effective against inflammatory diseases in clinical practice. Nevertheless, the precise functions of EMS in treating MS and its underlying mechanism have yet to be elucidated.
