Purpose: Breast density (BD) and background parenchymal enhancement (BPE) are important imaging biomarkers for breast cancer (BC) risk. We aim to evaluate longitudinal changes in quantitative BD and BPE in high-risk women undergoing dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI), focusing on the effects of age and transition into menopause.

Approach: A retrospective cohort study analyzed 834 high-risk women undergoing breast DCE-MRI for screening between 2005 and 2020.

There is growing evidence linking growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15) to both metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and cardiovascular (CV) risk. Nevertheless, the potential relationship between circulating levels of GDF15 and key features of MASLD being predisposed to atherosclerotic CV disease is not fully unveiled. The aim of this study was to deepen into the role of circulating GDF15 levels on metabolic-associated liver injury and atherosclerotic CV disease.

Donepezil (DH), a selective acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, is widely used to manage symptoms of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease by enhancing cholinergic neurotransmission and preventing acetylcholine breakdown. Despite the effectiveness of oral formulations, extensive hepatic metabolism and low systemic bioavailability have driven the search for alternative delivery systems. This study focuses on nasal delivery as a non-parenteral substitute, utilizing hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) for its mucoadhesive properties and methyl-β-cyclodextrin (Me-β-CD) for its ability to enhance permeability and form inclusion complexes with drugs.

Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to study a series of complexes of general formula [Ru(salen)(X)(CO)] (X = Cl, F, SCN, DMSO, Phosphabenzene, Phosphole, TPH, CN, N, NO, CNH, NHC, P(OH), PF, PH). The effect of ligands X on the Ru-CO bond was quantified by the -philicity, ΔC NMR parameter. The potential of ΔC to be used as a probe of the CO photodissociation by Ru(II) transition metal complexes is established upon comparing it with other -effect parameters.

Using 5-methyl salicylaldehyde () as a reactant to react with different amines, 2-aminobenzimidazole (), 2-aminobenzothiazole (), and 2-aminopyridine (), respectively, three types of Schiff base fluorescent probes - were designed and synthesized for selective detection of Al in aqueous media. The structure of the compounds was acquired by H NMR, C NMR, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Furthermore, their photochromic and fluorescent behaviors have been investigated systematically by fluorescence spectra.
