Polycythemia vera (PV) was first described by Vaquez in 1892. This is a chronic hematological malignancy which affects both older and young patients. Perhaps due to lack of a curative treatment and the perceived toxicities of prior therapies our focus in the past was to intensify treatment only for patients at higher risk of thrombosis.

Polycythemia is suspected when hemoglobin and/or hematocrit levels exceed established norms based on gender and age. This biological anomaly can arise from a myeloproliferative neoplasm known as polycythemia vera, or be secondary to excess erythropoietin (EPO) or decreased in plasma volume. Faced with polycythemia, the search for JAK2 mutations and measurement of serum EPO levels can guide toward the etiology.

Unlabelled: The work's purpose is to make a general review on the various clinical-radiological aspects and the management of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) in our hospital and compare them to those described in the literature.

Material And Method: Our series included 62 patients aged over 18 years, collected over 7 years (2009-2016) in the radiology department of the CHU Hassan II of Fez (Morocco), in which the radiological diagnosis of TVC was retained. Our patients have benefited from a brain CT scan and brain MRI.

[Acute myocardial infarction due to polycythemia vera].

We report the clinical case of a patient presenting with an acute myocardial infarction with ST- segment elevation. The patient is affected by polycythemia vera for many years and doesn't have any other cardiovascular risk factors. The frequency of thrombotic events in polycythemia vera (and more particularly myocardial infarction), their predictive factors, pathophysiology and treatment will be discussed.
