Background: Conflicting findings exist regarding the association between maternal serum zinc and neonatal birth weight. This study aimed to explore the association between maternal serum zinc and birth weight, and whether this association was modified by neonatal SOD2 polymorphism and promoter methylation.
Methods: We recruited 464 mother-newborn pairs at Houzhai Center Hospital from January 2010 to January 2012.

Objective: Previous observational studies have generated controversy regarding the correlation between serum uric acid (UA) levels and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), with the causal relationship remaining uncertain. To assess the potential causal relationship between serum UA levels and ICH, two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis was applied.
Methods: Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) closely associated with serum UA were retrieved from the genome-wide association study (GWAS) database, including 580,505 individuals of European descent.

Rationale & Objective: Observational studies suggest that uromodulin, produced by the kidneys, is associated with a reduced the risk of upper urinary tract infections, but inferences are limited by potential confounding factors. This study sought to explore further the validity of this association using Mendelian randomization.
Study Design: Two-sample Mendelian randomization study.

Background: Acarbose is an α-glucosidase inhibitor widely used clinically for its significant hypoglycemic effect, albeit with inter-individual variations in response. The sucrase-isomaltase (SI) enzyme is the primary target of acarbose. This study aims to investigate the impact of genetic polymorphisms in the SI gene on the pharmacodynamics of acarbose.

Objectives: This study examined the correlation between circulating receptor activator for nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL) levels and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and investigated the association between polymorphisms in the RANKL gene and susceptibility to RA.
Method: We searched the Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases for relevant publications up to September 2024. A meta-analysis was conducted to assess serum/plasma RANKL levels in patients with RA and controls, and to explore the relationship between RANKL rs9533156 and rs2277438 polymorphisms and RA susceptibility.
