Background: Owing to the risk for septic arthritis, traumatic arthrotomies are an urgent surgical problem for the treating orthopaedic surgeon. Traditionally, diagnosis is with the saline load test (SLT), although in the awake patient is an invasive and potentially painful procedure. While computerized tomography (CT) has been shown to be a reliable diagnostic tool for traumatic arthrotomies of other joints, its role has only recently been investigated in the setting of ankle arthrotomy.

The presence of pesticide residues in textiles poses a risk to human health. We established a robust and high-throughput liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of 115 pesticide residues in textiles. In this study, we evaluated high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry conditions and sample extraction methods, including separation performance of different columns, mass conditions, extraction solvent, and extraction time.

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) often presents with neuropsychiatric (NP) involvement, including cognitive impairment and depression. Past magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research in SLE patients showed smaller hippocampal volumes but did not investigate other medial temporal lobe (MTL) regions. Our study aims to compare MTL subregional volumes in SLE patients to healthy individuals (HI) and explore MTL subregional volumes in relation to neuropsychiatric SLE (NPSLE) manifestations.

Background: The treatment of glioblastomas (GBM) with radiation therapy is extremely challenging due to their invasive nature and high recurrence rate within normal brain tissue.
Purpose: In this work, we present a new metric called the tumour spread (TS) map, which utilizes diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) to predict the probable direction of tumour cells spread along fiber tracts. We hypothesized that the TS map could serve as a predictive tool for identifying patterns of likely recurrence in patients with GBM and, therefore, be used to modify the delivery of radiation treatment to pre-emptively target regions at high risk of tumour spread.

Background: Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is the most common benign tumor of the ribs, with surgical resection being the preferred treatment modality for rib FD, leading to enhanced quality of life and favorable outcomes. The complexity of surgical intervention varies depending on the location of costal FD, presenting challenges for both open surgical and thoracoscopic approaches. In this study, we present a novel technique for three-port robotic-assisted costectomy utilizing a Gigli saw, detailing our initial findings and outcomes.
