A prostate abscess is a rare complication of prostatitis, typically observed in patients with conditions such as immunodeficiency, diabetes, urinary tract abnormalities, and chronic indwelling catheters. We present a 60-year-old patient, admitted to the hospital presenting progressively with dysuria for more than 1 year, accompanied by frequent urination, urgent pain, and urinary retention, intermittent fever for 20 days. A multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) scan of the abdomen/pelvis showed a prostatic abscess.

High dose-rate brachytherapy presents a promising therapeutic avenue for prostate cancer management, involving the temporary implantation of catheters which deliver radioactive sources to the cancerous site. However, as catheters puncture and penetrate the prostate, tissue deformation is evident which may affect the accuracy and efficiency of the treatment. In this work, a data-driven modelling procedure is proposed to simulate brachytherapy while accounting for prostate biomechanics.

This case report presents CT-guided transperineal biopsy as an alternative method for diagnosis of prostate cancer in a patient with anorectal stenosis. A 69-year-old male had a history of anorectal surgeries. Conventional transrectal biopsy was unfeasible due to anorectal stenosis.

Objective: To investigate the effect of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction-assisted cognitive fusion in targeted prostate biopsy.
Results: There was no significant difference in the detection rate of prostate cancer (PCa) between targeted biopsy and systematic biopsy, and there was significant difference in the detection rate of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) between targeted biopsy and systematic biopsy. In the low prostate total specific antigen (tPSA) group, there was no statistically significant difference in the detection rate of prostate cancer between the two biopsy modalities.

The advanced prostate biopsy robot system has broad application prospects in clinical practice, but due to the deformation and distortion between MR-TRUS (magnetic resonance transrectal ultrasound) images, it poses challenges in biopsy accuracy and safety. The study utilized an advanced prostate biopsy robot system based on MR-TRUS image flexible registration technology and conducted experiments on animal models. Retrospective analysis of the puncture accuracy of 12 animal experiments undergoing prostate puncture using MR-TRUS flexible registration technology from May 2022 to October 2023, and observation of intraoperative and 7-day postoperative complications.
