Concerns over malnutrition, synthetic additives and post-harvest waste highlight the need for innovation in food technology, turning towards underutilized crops. Plant-based beverages offer sustainable dietary alternatives and the increasing demand for such products makes the exploration of native crops particularly relevant. This study focuses on the development of a beverage derived from the native South American fruit kurugua (Sicana odorifera), combined with chia oil (Salvia hispanica L.

The and isomers of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) are associated with anticancer and lipolytic effects in tissues, respectively, but in lactating cows, the latter isomer reduces the milk fat concentration, a detrimental aspect for the dairy industry, as it reduces the yield of milk derivatives. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of providing protected palmitic acid (PA) to grazing lactating Holstein cows supplemented with soybean oil as a source of conjugated linoleic acid, on milk production, fat concentration and mitigation of milk fat depression. Nine multiparous Holstein cows were used, distributed in three groups of three cows each, with initial means of days in milk, live weight, milk production, and number of calvings: 124 ± 16 days, 494 ± 53 kg, 20.

This authorised NF concerns phytosterols extracted from plants and which may be presented as free sterols and stanols or esterified with food grade fatty acids. It has to contain less than 81% β-sitosterol, less than 35% β-sitostanol, less than 40% campesterol, less than 15% campestanol, less than 30% stigmasterol and less than 3% brassicasterol.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) remains a lethal gynecological malignancy with an alarming mortality rate, primarily attributed to delayed diagnosis and a lack of effective treatment modalities. Accumulated evidence highlights the pivotal role of reprogrammed lipid metabolism in fueling OC progression, however, the intricate underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully elucidated.
Methods: DLAT expression was assessed in OC tissues and cell lines by immunohistochemistry, western blot and qRT-PCR analysis.

Oleogels with solid-like properties can serve as substitutes for fats, thereby avoiding the consumption of high levels of saturated fatty acids. In this study, we developed a protein-polysaccharide composite network oleogel using whey protein isolate (WPI) and sodium alginate (SA) through an emulsion-templated method. Analysis with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed the presence of hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces between WPI and SA, which bolstered the oleogel's structure.
