Background: Improvements in diagnostics and clinical care have allowed more women of childbearing age, suffering from neurological diseases, to safely have pregnancy, reducing peripartum complications. However, these patients remain at risk and are a constant challenge for anesthesiologists in the delivery room.
Methods: To assess the type of anesthesiologic management performed for delivery in obstetric patients with preexisting neurological disease and who reported significant neurological symptoms during pregnancy, a retrospective observational study was carried out between 1 October 2008 and 30 September 2021.

: There is an ongoing debate about the most advantageous anesthesia technique for carotid endarterectomy (CEA). From an anesthesiologic perspective, locoregional anesthesia (LRA) appears to offer significant benefits. However, the learning curve and complication rates for anesthesiologists newly performing ultrasound-guided LRA for CEA remain unclear and are to be examined in greater detail in this study.

Background: Anterior column realignment (ACR), using a lateral lumbar or thoracic interbody fusion (LLIF) approach to release the anterior longitudinal ligament (ALL), is a powerful technique to increase segmental lordosis. We here report our experience with the use of expandible LLIF cages for ACR.
Methods: Retrospective, single-center observational cohort study including consecutive patients treated by LLIF using an expandible interbody implant.

Background: Clinical experiences using a psychosomatic-oriented multimodal treatment approach in patients with post-COVID are promising. We established a half-day multimodal treatment program for post-COVID patients at the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine at General Hospital Nuremberg, Paracelsus Medical University, Germany.
Methods: This observational study between January 2022 and March 2023 comprised baseline documentation of Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQD), ICD-10 Symptom Rating (ISR), Fatigue Scale (FS) and Health Status Questionnaire (SF-12) at admission and discharge of 65 patients suffering from post-COVID.

Early life stress (ELS) significantly increases the risk of chronic cardiovascular diseases and may cause neuroinflammation. This post hoc study, based on the material available from a previous study showing elevated "serum brain injury markers" in male control animals, examines the effect of sex and/or ELS on the cerebral and cardiac expression of the HS and oxytocin systems. Following approval by the Regional Council of Tübingen, a randomized controlled study was conducted on 12 sexually mature, uncastrated German Large White swine of both sexes.
