[Exophthalmometry with computed tomography].

Vestn Oftalmol

August 2019

S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution, 59 А Beskudnikovsky Blvd., Moscow, Russian Federation, 127486.

Unlabelled: Bone abnormalities of orbit seen in patients with trauma or radiolesion are accompanied by enophthalmos or exophthalmos. Conventional measurements of eyeball protrusion with Hertel's exophthalmometer or with computed tomography do not provide accurate and reliable data, especially in patients with asymmetry of lateral orbital rims.

Purpose: To develop a method of computed exophthalmometry that provides accurate and reliable measurements in patients with various orbital conditions.

As a result of some deviations in the installation of the X-ray inspection plant 'Extravolt-225/1600' two workers of an X-ray inspection laboratory were exposed to the radiation in a dose enough to cause an acute local radiolesions (LRs). The first patient was diagnosed with an acute LR of the hands of severe and extremely severe degree. The second patient was diagnosed with a mild LR of her right hand.

[Bevacizumab for the treatment of cerebral radionecrosis].

Rev Neurol (Paris)

April 2011

Service de neurologie, hôpital Pasteur, 30, voie Romaine, 06002 Nice cedex, France.

Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody, which neutralizes the effect of vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF) allowing regression of tumour vessels and a decrease in the permeability of the blood-brain barrier. Already used in oncology as adjuvant treatment for certain metastatic cancers and in second line for high-grade gliomas, it has been recently used as a treatment of cerebral radionecrosis resisting conventional drug treatment and hyperbaric oxygen. This article presents three patients with cerebral radionecrosis and treated by monthly infusions of bevacizumab (10 mg/kg per month).

Clinical treatment of radiotherapy tissue damage by lipoaspirate transplant: a healing process mediated by adipose-derived adult stem cells.

Plast Reconstr Surg

April 2007

Verona and Milan, Italy From the Second Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Institute for Burns, and Regional Center for Breast Reconstruction, Ospedale Maggiore di Verona; the Laboratory of Biomedical Technology, Department of Bioengineering, Politecnico di Milano; and the Institute of Human Anatomy and the Hematology Section of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Verona.

Background: There is evidence that stem cells contribute to the restoration of tissue vascularization and organ function. The objective of this study was to assess the presence of adipose-derived adult stem cells left in their natural scaffold in the purified lipoaspirate and to assess the clinical effectiveness of lipoaspirate transplantation in the treatment of radiation side effects.

Methods: This study was designed beginning with surgical procedures in 2002 and envisaging a continuous patient follow-up to 31 months.

Systematic human pathological background to brain tumor radiosurgery explaining biological and pathophysiological effects of focused irradiation barely exists. The goal of this study was to explore histopathological changes evoked by single high-dose irradiation in a set of different brain tumors following Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS). Light microscopy revealed that GKRS evokes degenerative and proliferative pathological changes in the parenchyma, stroma and vessels of the irradiated tumors.
