Front Transplant

January 2025

Department of Surgical, Medical, Biomolecular Pathology and Intensive Care, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy.

Background And Aims: There is growing interest in the environmental impact of surgical procedures, yet more information is needed specifically regarding liver transplantation. This study aims to quantify the total greenhouse gas emissions, or carbon footprint, associated with adult whole-size liver transplantation from donors after brain death, including the relevant back-table graft preparation.

Methods: The carbon footprint was calculated retrospectively using a bottom-up approach.

Autoantibodies in COVID-19: implications for disease severity and clinical outcomes.

Front Immunol

January 2025

Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada.

Few pathogens have historically been subjected to as intense scientific and clinical scrutiny as SARS-CoV-2. The genetic, immunological, and environmental factors influencing disease severity and post-infection clinical outcomes, known as correlates of immunity, remain largely undefined. Clinical outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection vary widely, ranging from asymptomatic cases to those with life-threatening COVID-19 symptoms.

Single-cell RNA sequencing of the carotid artery and femoral artery of rats exposed to hindlimb unloading.

Cell Mol Life Sci

January 2025

Department of Aerospace Medical Training, School of Aerospace Medicine, Fourth Military Medical University, 169 Chang Le Xi Road, Xi'an, 710032, China.

Background: Prolonged spaceflight is known to cause vascular deconditioning and remodeling. Tail suspension, a widely used spaceflight analog, is reported to result in vascular remodeling of rats. However, little is known about the cellular atlas of the heterogeneous cells of CA and FA from hindlimb-unloaded rats.
