Introduction: and research question: Prognostic factors to predict the behavior of pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are scarce. PD-L1 expression was associated with prognosis in other neuroendocrine neoplasms and we analyzed PD-L1 expression in PitNET, according to the 2022 WHO classification.

Material And Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed.

Prolactin Response to a Submaximal Dose of Ghrelin in Different Phases of the Normal Menstrual Cycle.

Medicina (Kaunas)

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly, 41500 Larissa, Greece.

A similar secretory pattern of prolactin (PRL) and growth hormone (GH) during the menstrual cycle has been reported in response to a high dose of ghrelin in adult healthy women. The present study aimed to assess the pattern of PRL and GH secretions in response to a submaximal dose of ghrelin during different menstrual phases in adult healthy women. Eight female subjects with normal cyclicity were enrolled.

Background: Pituitary adenomas are common benign intracranial tumors. This study aimed to explore the relevant factors influencing the cavernous sinus medial wall invasion by Pituitary adenomas based on intraoperative evaluation. Meanwhile, the authors introduced a safe technique for the resection of the medial wall of the cavernous sinus and conducted a preliminary evaluation of the efficacy of this technique.

Introduction: The T2-signal intensity (SI) of somatotroph pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (sPitNET) is associated with treatment response and granulation pattern. Our aim was to evaluate SI assessment methods and their clinical implications, including responsiveness to preoperative first-generation somatostatin analogs (SSA).

Methods: This single-center, observational study included unselected, consecutive patients with newly diagnosed acromegaly.

Article Synopsis
  • Pituitary adenomas often lead to the need for Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) after incomplete removal or recurrence, and this study aims to assess its long-term effectiveness.
  • In a cohort study of 147 patients who underwent GKRS between 1999 and 2020, the researchers evaluated progression-free survival (PFS) over an average follow-up of 8.1 years, finding a 5-year PFS of 86% and a 10-year PFS of 68%.
  • Results indicated that somatotrophic adenomas had lower progression risks, but 32% of patients experienced adverse radiation events, mainly hypopituitarism, highlighting the need to weigh outcomes against potential side effects.
