Background: Anastomotic leak after esophagectomy is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. We sought to identify the prevalence of anastomotic leak, stratified by operative approach and disease etiology, as well as risk factors for leak.
Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis using the STS General Thoracic Surgery Database was conducted on patients who underwent esophagectomy with gastric reconstruction between 2009-2021.

Introduction: Pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) is a complex surgery with high morbidity and mortality, often associated with complications like post-pancreatectomy hemorrhage (PPH) and postoperative pancreatic fistulas (POPF). The corticosteroids administered intraoperatively has been shown to improve postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing surgery. This study evaluates the performance and safety of a new endoscopic stapler (EnDrive® Beluga) regarding perioperative results across multiple bariatric surgery types. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 112 patients who underwent bariatric procedures using the Beluga stapler at two centers in the United Arab Emirates and Kenya over a 6-month period (June-December 2023).
