This study aimed to investigate the cardioprotective effect of quinacrine in an in vivo model of myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury. A 30-min regional myocardial ischemia followed by a 2-h reperfusion was modeled in anesthetized Wistar rats. Starting at the last minute of ischemia and during the first 9 min of reperfusion the rats in the control (n=8) and experimental (n=9) groups were injected with 0.

Fosfomycin is a broad-spectrum single-dose therapy approved for treating lower urinary tract infections. , one of the five major UTI-causing pathogens, is intrinsically resistant to fosfomycin. Reduced uptake and active efflux are major reasons for this intrinsic resistance.

The study of immunometabolism is an important and emerging field in immunology. B-cell activation upon antigen recognition induces profound metabolic changes in the cell, leading to an increase in ATP production to sustain cell proliferation and differentiation. Current methods available to determine the amount of ATP are time-consuming, require extensive sample processing, and need a large amount of starting material.

Aims: Microglia survey the brain environment by sensing alarm signals to provide the first line of defense against injury or infection after which they acquire an activated phenotype, but they also respond to chemical signals sent from brain mast cells, sentinels of the immune system, when these are degranulated in response to noxious agents. Nevertheless, excessive microglia activation damages the surrounding healthy neural tissue causing progressive loss of neurons and inducing chronic inflammation. Thus, it would be of intense interest the development and application of agents which prevent mast cell mediator release and inhibit the actions of such mediators once released on microglia.

Quinacrine is a versatile drug that is widely recognized for its antimalarial action through its inhibition of the phospholipase enzyme. It also has antianthelmintic and antiprotozoan activities and is a strong DNA binder that may be used to combat multidrug resistance in cancer. Despite extensive cell-based studies, a detailed understanding of quinacrine's influence on the cell membrane, including permeability, binding, and rearrangement at the molecular level, is lacking.
