Background: So-called scores are a frequently used evaluation system in clinical examinations to assess the function or limitations of a joint such as the shoulder. However, research indicates that these general scores often have limited validity for specific patient groups, such as athletes. Known as a demanding patient population, athletes have unique needs.

Characterization of Cutaneous Radiation Syndrome in a Mouse Model Using [18F]F- Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography.

Ionizing radiation on the skin has the potential to cause various sequelae affecting quality of life and even leading to death due to multi-system failure. The development of radiation dermatitis is attributed to oxidative damage to the skin's basal layer and alterations in immune response, leading to inflammation. Past studies have shown that [18F]F-2-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography ([18F]F-FDG PET/CT) can be used effectively for the detection of inflammatory activity, especially in conditions like hidradenitis suppurativa, psoriasis, and early atherosclerosis.

The development of diverse microstructures has substantially contributed to recent progress in high-performance electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials, providing a versatile platform for the modulation of absorption properties. Exploring multidimensional microstructures and developing tailored and gentle strategies for their precise optimization can substantially address the current challenges posed by relatively unclear underlying mechanisms. Here, a series of 2D/1D heterogeneous NiO@PPy composites featuring hollow hierarchical microstructures are successfully synthesized using a straightforward strategy combining sacrificial templating with chemical oxidative polymerization.

In three studies (total N = 622), the effects of threat to control on subsequent moral judgement were examined. After recalling a lack-of-control experience, participants evaluated the morality of a protagonist's decisions in a series of incongruent moral dilemmas. We found that a control-threatening reminder made moral judgements more utilitarian on the deontological-utilitarian dimension, which is consistent with the control motivation theory.

Tuning electronic and optical properties of 2D polymeric C by stacking two layers.

Nanoscale

January 2025

Theory of Condensed Matter Group, Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, J.J.Thomson Avenue, Cambridge CB3 0HE, UK.

Benefiting from improved stability due to interlayer van der Waals interactions, few-layer fullerene networks are experimentally more accessible compared to monolayer polymeric C. However, there is a lack of systematic theoretical studies on the material properties of few-layer C networks. Here, we compare the structural, electronic and optical properties of bilayer and monolayer fullerene networks.
