Background: Current multimodal neuroimaging plays a critical role in studying clinical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, major depression, and other disorders related to chronic stress. These conditions involve the brainstem-hypothalamic network, specifically the locus coeruleus (LC), dorsal vagal complex (DVC), and paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus, collectively referred to as the "DVC-LC-PVN circuitry." This circuitry is strongly associated with the norepinephrine (NE) and epinephrine (E) neurotransmitter systems, which are implicated in the regulation of key autonomic functions, such as cardiovascular and respiratory control, stress response, and cognitive and emotional behaviors.

Effects of photobiomodulation therapy (660-nm laser) on median nerve function in Wistar rats.

Photochem Photobiol

January 2025

Departamento de Fisioterapia, Universidade Federal dos Vales Do Jequitinhonha e, Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

This study investigates the effects of photobiomodulation (PBM) with a 660-nm laser on nerve regeneration and muscle morphometry following median nerve axonotmesis in rats. Sixteen Wistar rats were divided into a control group and laser-treated group, with the latter receiving 10 applications of PBM (660 nm; 20 mW; 10 J/cm; 0.4 J; and 20 s) over 2 weeks.

Objectives: To investigate baseline patient characteristics associated with the risk of computed tomography (CT)-based sarcopenia and assess whether sarcopenia and other morphometric parameters influence survival outcomes in patients with liver metastases and cholangiocarcinoma after Yttrium-90 radioembolization.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 120 cancer patients (mean age, 62 ± 13.3 years, 61 men) who underwent preprocedural CT.

In-channel sediment mining significantly disrupts reach-scale sediment connectivity and channel geometry, causing immediate and intense geomorphological responses. River systems perturbed by anthropogenic stress, like sand and gravel mining, tend to respond within a shorter timescale, making the study of feedback mechanisms important. 'Sensitive' rivers display dramatic change via a positive feedback mechanism, exacerbating the change in the system.

Sap Anthropometric Landmark: A Morphometric Orientation Point of the Nasal Tip.

J Craniofac Surg

January 2025

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Azerbaijan Medical University, Baku, Azerbaijan.

The aim of the present study is to introduce a new anthropometric landmark (sap), parameter (sap-sap) for measuring a width of nasal tip and 7 new proportion indexes. For determinate data mean with standard deviation, 200 healthy individuals (100 men and 100 women) were included in the study. The authors determined and pointed 9 paired cranio-facial anthropometric landmarks: sap, al, ac, mf, en, ex, zy, ch, go.
