Introduction: Lung cancer, one of the leading causes of death due to neoplasms, requires prompt diagnosis and immediate treatment. The COVID-19 pandemic affected healthcare systems worldwide, having adverse effects on all aspects, particularly on the fate of patients with suspected neoplastic diseases. Limited access to healthcare, disruptions in regular operations (reassigning roles to some wards), postponed hospital admissions, prolonged diagnostic processes, and other factors have collectively led to the phenomenon known as COVID-19 debt.

Free-living amoebae (FLA) are described as environmental reservoirs for some bacteria able to resist their phagocytosis. In the environment, the fate of Mycobacterium bovis (Mbo) and Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Map) responsible for bovine tuberculosis and paratuberculosis, respectively, remains poorly understood and is considered potentially problematic in the eradication and control of these diseases.

Although our understanding of its pathogenesis has increased, effective treatments remain scarce, and fibrotic progression is a major cause of mortality. Recent research has identified various etiological factors, including genetic predispositions, environmental exposures, and lifestyle factors, which contribute to the onset and progression of PF.

Livestock manure treatment technology and composting and its products have been widely used in agricultural soil. However, little was known about the variations in the fate of pathogens and the factors affecting their pathogenic ability during this process, which posed threats to ecological safety and public health globally. This study used a metagenomic approach to profile the behaviors of pathogens during peroxydisulfate composting.

has evolved a highly specialized system to snatch essential nutrients from its host, among which host-derived cholesterol has been established as one main carbon source for to survive within granulomas. The uptake, catabolism, and utilization of cholesterol are important for to sustain within the host largely via remodeling of the bacterial cell walls. However, the regulatory mechanism of cholesterol uptake and its impact on bacterium fate within infected hosts remain elusive.
