Purpose: To report the clinical presentation and follow-up, including the optical coherence tomography, angiography and electrophysiology of two individuals from the same family presenting with an isolated retinal dystrophy and optic nerve edema who were diagnosed with ROSAH-like syndrome.

Method: Observational case report of a 55-year-old woman and her 36-year-old son with a genetic analysis of ROSAH, after a long-term follow-up.

Results: Both the mother and her son displayed severe optic nerve infiltration and retinal pigment atrophy with intraocular inflammation, which were not improved by immunosuppressive treatment.

The aim of the study was todescribe the clinical features, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF) imaging in patients with choroidal and retinal tumors. Ninety eyes of 89 patients with treatment-naive macular, midperipheral, and juxtapapillary choroidal and retinal tumors were retrospectively included in the study. All patients underwent a complete ophthalmic examination, B-mode ultrasonography, OCT, and FAF imaging.

Wearable optical coherence tomography angiography probe with extended depth of field.

J Biomed Opt

January 2025

Tsinghua University, State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurement Technology and Instruments, Department of Precision Instrument, Beijing, China.

Significance: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is widely utilized to investigate brain activities and disorders in anesthetized or restrained rodents. However, anesthesia can alter several physiological parameters, leading to findings that might not fully represent the true physiological state. To advance the understanding of brain function in awake and freely moving animals, the development of wearable OCT probes is crucial.

Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is the third most common cause of acute cardiovascular disease, which can lead to high morbidity and mortality if left untreated. Anatomical and electrophysiological variations and obesity may complicate timely diagnosis and delay required management. While computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) remains the most accurate diagnostic tool, initial assessments using electrocardiography (ECG) or echocardiography can be helpful in early suspicion.

Exploring the effect of gestational diabetes mellitus on retinal vascular morphology by PKSEA-Net.

Front Cell Dev Biol

January 2025

Quzhou Aliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Quzhou People's Hospital, Quzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a temporary metabolic disorder in which small retinal vessels may have experience subtle changes before clinical lesions of the fundus retina appear. An innovative artificial intelligence image processing technology was applied to locate and analyze the small retinal vessel morphology and accurately evaluate the changes of the small retinal vessels in GDM patients and pregnant women with normal blood glucose and non-pregnant women with normal blood glucose.

Methods: The subjects were divided into three groups:GDM group, pregnant control group (PC), and normal control group (NC).
