A simple and green chemometrics-assisted spectrophotometric technique has beendeveloped and validated for the determination of antipyrine (ANT) and benzocaine HCl (BEN) along with the official impurity of ANT, antipyrine impurity A (ANT imp-A), and the degradation product of BEN, p-amino benzoic acid (PABA), in their quaternary mixture. Three models were developed and compared: partial least squares (PLS), artificial neural networks (ANN), and multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) where the four studied drugs were successfully quantified. The quantitative determination of the studied drugs was assessed using percentage recoveries, standard errors of prediction, and root mean square errors of prediction.

Purification and structural characterization of a neutral polysaccharide from Boletus auripes using self-made quaternary chitosan cryogel.

Int J Biol Macromol

December 2024

College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Hubei Engineering Center of Natural Polymer-Based Medical Materials, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072, China. Electronic address:

The purification of polysaccharides is an essential preliminary step in determining their chemical structure, although it presents significant challenges. In this research, a macro-porous monolith of quaternary chitosan cryogel was synthesized for the purification of a neutral polysaccharide from Boletus auripes. A homogeneous neutral polysaccharide (BAP-1a1) with a weight-average molecular weight of 4.

Copper-Catalyzed [2,3]-Sigmatropic Rearrangement of Azide-Ynamides via Selenium Ylides.

Org Lett

December 2024

Yunnan Key Laboratory of Modern Separation Analysis and Substance Transformation, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming 650500, China.

A copper-catalyzed [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of azide-ynamides via selenium ylides is disclosed, which leads to the practical and divergent synthesis of a variety of tricyclic heterocycles bearing a quaternary carbon stereocenter in generally moderate to excellent yields. Significantly, this method represents the first [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of the selenium ylide based on alkynes and an unprecedented [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement via α-imino copper carbenes.

In this paper, a new carbon dot (R1-CDs) was prepared by one-pot hydrothermal method by using 1,8-diaminonaphthalene and o-phthalic acid (o-PA) as precursors. Due to the high purity of R1-CDs, NMR analysis was performed to identify the types of H and C atoms in their graphene sheets. From our research findings, three important information was disclosed such as (1) five types H atoms are presented in R1-CDs; (2) 18 kinds of C atoms in the graphene sheets are observed, and 8 kinds of them are quaternary atoms, and 10 kinds of carbon atoms as tertiary one; (3) functional groups of -COOH and -NH2 from precursors cannot be inherited into the edges or defect sites of graphene sheet.

The separation and purification of acetylene from the light hydrocarbon gas mixtures is considered as one of the most industrially challenging task for the production of fine chemicals. Though metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising candidates for such separation and offer a cost and energy-efficient pathway, achieving the trade-off between sorption capacity and separation selectivity along with framework robustness is a daunting task and demands effective design. Herein, a new 3D chemically stable MOF, IITKGP-24 (stable over a wide range of aqueous pH solution, pH = 2-12) is developed, displaying excellent separation selectivity of 13.
