Background: HER2-targeted therapies have revolutionized the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer patients, leading to significant improvements in tumor response rates and survival. However, resistance and incomplete response remain considerable challenges. Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibition is a novel therapeutic strategy for the management of dyslipidemia by enhancing the clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol receptors, however recent evidence also shows links between PCSK9 and cancer cells.

Many vaccines have been produced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, an increasing number of vaccines have reached an expiration date without being used. Therefore, expired vaccines (EXVAX) based on virus-like particles (VLP) recombinant SARS-CoV2-S protein can be repurposed for biosensing application and provide a use, even though they are past their expiration date for vaccination.

Plasmonic surface lattice resonance (SLR) is a phenomenon in which individual localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) excited in periodically-arranged plasmonic nanoparticles couple through the interaction with the propagating diffracted incident light. The SLR optical absorption peak is by at least one order of magnitude more intense than the LSPR one, making SLR superior for applications in which LSPR is commonly used. Recently, we have developed a route for the fabrication of spherical virus-like particles (VLPs) with plasmonic Au cores and protein coronas, where the LSPR in the cores amplifies vibrational Raman signals originating from protein-antibody interactions [ACS Synth.

Malaria is a highly lethal infectious disease caused by parasites. These parasites are transmitted to vertebrate hosts when mosquitoes of the genus probe for a blood meal. Sporozoites, the infectious stage of , transit to the liver within hours of injection into the dermis.

Charge detection mass spectrometry (CD-MS) is an emerging single-particle technique where both the / and charge are measured individually to determine each ion's mass. It is particularly well-suited for analyzing high mass and heterogeneous samples. With conventional MS, the loss of charge state resolution with high mass samples has hindered the direct coupling of MS to separation techniques like size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and forced the use of lower resolution detectors.
