Background: Cell concentration in body fluid is an important factor for clinical diagnosis. The traditional method involves clinicians manually counting cells under microscopes, which is labor-intensive. Automated cell concentration estimation can be achieved using flow cytometers; however, their high cost limits accessibility.

Objectives: Living apart together (LAT)-intimate partners living in separate households-is a common partnership type among older adults. Although the mental health benefits of intimate partnerships are widely documented, how LAT relates to older adults' mental health remains understudied.
Methods: Analyzing Waves 3-13 (2011-2023) of the United Kingdom Household Longitudinal Study, we use fixed effects models to examine (1) how older adults' mental health varies with LAT, marriage, cohabitation, and singlehood (never married, widowed, divorced/separated); and (2) how transitions into and out of LAT, compared to marriage and cohabitation, relate to older adults' mental health.

Cognitive deficit is a debilitating complication of sickle cell disease (SCD), with a multifactorial etiopathogenesis. Here we show that neuroinflammation and dysregulation in lipidomics and transcriptomics profiles are major underlying mechanisms of social stress-induced cognitive deficit in SCD. Male Townes sickle cell (SS) mice and controls (AA) were exposed to social stress using the repeat social defeat (RSD) paradigm concurrently with or without treatment with minocycline.

The widespread emergence of airborne diseases has transformed our lifestyle, and respirators have become an essential part of daily life. Nevertheless, finding respirators that fit well can be challenging due to the variety of human facial sizes and shapes, potentially compromising protection. In addition, the current respirators do not inform the user of the air quality in case of continuous long-term use.

Schistosomiasis, a highly prevalent parasitic disease, affects more than 200 million people worldwide. Current diagnostics based on parasite egg detection in stool detect infection only at a late stage, and current antibody-based tests cannot distinguish past from current infection. Here, we developed and used a multiplexed antibody profiling platform to obtain a comprehensive repertoire of antihelminth humoral profiles including isotype, subclass, Fc receptor (FcR) binding, and glycosylation profiles of antigen-specific antibodies.
