Background: We evaluated the outcome of vertical rectus abdominus myocutaneous flap (VRAM) allotransplantation in a mini-pig model, using a combined co-stimulation blockade (Co-SB) and mechanistic target of rapamycin inhibition (mTORi)-based regimen, with or without preceding calcineurin inhibition (CNI).
Materials And Methods: VRAM allotransplants were performed between SLA-mismatched MGH miniature swine. Group A (n = 2) was treated continuously with the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin from day -1 in combination with the Co-SB agent cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4-Ig (CTLA4-Ig) from post-operative day (POD) 0.

Systematic experimental and theoretical research on the role of microstructure and interface thermal resistance on the thermal conductivity of the PbTe-CoSb3 bulk polycrystalline composite is presented. In particular, the correlation between the particle size of the dispersed phase and interface thermal resistance (Rint) on the phonon thermal conductivity (κph) is discussed. With this aim, a series of PbTe-CoSb3 polycrystalline composite materials with different particle sizes of CoSb3 was prepared.

The strategy of "template sacrifice method" was proposed to synthesize well-defined NiSb/CoSb nanoparticles embedded in carbon nanosphere (Ni-Co-Sb/C, ~560 nm) by calcination treatment of the Ni-Co-MOF (metal-organic framework) precursor. Due to the structural controllability of MOF precursor and Ni/Co bimetallic synergy, the fabricated Ni-Co-Sb/C demonstrates a high surface area (88 m g) and superior ion conductivity, thus an excellent electrochemical performance as has been achieved as lithium ion battery (LIB) anode. A reversible discharge specific capacity as high as 495.

It has been discussed for a long time that synthetic pressure can effectively optimize thermoelectric properties. The beneficial effect of synthesis pressures on thermoelectric properties has been discussed for a long time. In this paper, it is theoretically and experimentally demonstrated that appropriate synthesis pressures can increase the figure of merit (ZT) through optimizing thermal transport and electronic transport properties.

The plasma of cancer patients (n=112) and controls (n=118) were analysed for selected trace metals (Al, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sr and Zn) by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy. In the plasma of cancer patients, mean concentrations of macronutrients/essential metals, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe and Zn were 3971, 178, 44.1, 7.
