Background: The development of practical skills is crucial in medical education, with various teaching-learning (T/L) methods such as Demonstration-Observation-Assistance-Performance (DOAP), Peyton's four-step approach, and See One Do One Teach One (SO-DO-TO) being employed to enhance students' competencies in handling medical devices.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of DOAP, Peyton's approach and SO-DO-TO methods on skill performance of 1-year MBBS students in using a sphygmomanometer, audiometer, and electrocardiogram (ECG).
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 126 1-year MBBS students, who were randomly divided into three groups ( = 42).

Background: In 2021, there were approximately 450,000 cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) worldwide. The treatment of DR-TB historically included expensive and toxic injectable drugs leading to adverse effects including ototoxicity and Electrocardiogram (ECG) abnormalities. This study described the perspectives of healthcare providers and people with DR-TB on the usability of simplified audiometry and ECG for monitoring treatment adverse effects.

Introduction: presbyacusis is age-related hearing loss, manifesting as a bilateral symmetrical sensorineural hearing loss of adult-onset. It has different audiometric configurations and is associated with a decline in speech discrimination sensitivity. The objectives of the study were to determine the degree of hearing loss; types of presbyacusis; and speech discrimination score (SDS) of presbyacusics and to compare the SDS in different types of presbyacusis in patients seen at a tertiary hospital in Kaduna, Nigeria.

Objective: Automated pure-tone audiometry (PTA) conducted outside a sound booth is heavily affected by environmental noise. This study aims to evaluate the performance of an automated PTA system, employing commercially available true wireless stereo earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC) in noisy environments.
Design: The electroacoustic characteristics of earbuds are thoroughly evaluated.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to provide evidence of the inherent variability associated with monitored live voice (MLV) presentation methods and encourage audiologists to more closely follow best practice of using recorded stimuli. To accomplish the goal, administration times for word recognition testing were compared between MLV and MP3 recorded stimuli presented directly from an audiometer (computer assisted, CA). Furthermore, the variability of administration time across testers was evaluated.
