A patient is described with features of a superior orbital fissure (Tolosa Hunt) syndrome and a coexistent intraorbital lesion. There was radiological evidence both of narrowing of the carotid artery and of an intraorbital obstruction of venous return from the orbit. The diagnostic value of orbital venography and carotid angiography in the investigation of granulomata in the region of the orbit is stressed. The condition described here is responsive to corticosteroids and it is also inferred that there may be a clinicopathological spectrum encompassing both the Tolosa Hunt syndrome and pseudotumour of the orbit.

Purpose: Cysticercosis, caused by Taenia solium larvae, can affect various ocular and extraocular structures, leading to significant morbidity. Ultrasound B-scan imaging plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and classifying cysticercosis lesions. The aim of the study was to describe the ultrasound B-scan characteristics of ocular and extraocular cysticercosis, proposing a classification system based on anatomical localization to enhance understanding and management.

A particle current generated by pumping in the absence of gradients in potential energy, density or temperature is associated with non-trivial dynamics. A representative example is charge pumping that is associated with the quantum Hall effect and the quantum anomalous Hall effect. Spin pumping, the spin equivalent of charge pumping, refers to the emission of a spin current by magnetization dynamics.

Purpose: To investigate the differences in brain spontaneous neural activity between limb-onset and bulbar-onset amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS-L and ALS-B, respectively) patients using resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) with amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and regional homogeneity (ReHo).
Materials And Methods: The rs-fMRI data were collected from 41 ALS patients (11 ALS-B and 30 ALS-L) and 25 healthy controls (HC). ALFF and ReHo values were calculated, and group differences were assessed using one-way ANCOVA and two-sample t-tests.

Phase distributions typically contain richer information about the morphology, structure, and organizational properties of a sample than intensity distributions. However, due to the weak scattering and absorption properties of pure phase objects, intensity measurements are unable to provide information about the phase, making it more challenging to reveal phase structure from the incident light background. Here, we propose a method for visualizing phase objects through simple optical reflection occurring at a glass interface.
