Chicken coccidiosis causes retarded growth and low production performance in poultry, resulting in huge economic losses to the poultry industry. In order to prevent and control chicken coccidiosis, great efforts have been made to develop new drugs and vaccines, which require pure isolates of Eimeria spp. In this study, we obtained the Eimeira tenella Xiantao isolate by single oocyst isolation technology and compared its genome with the reference genome GCF_000499545.

This study compared 2 herbal anticoccidiosis drugs (water-soluble and feed-additive drugs) with monensin coccidiostat, toltrazuril (TTZ, anticoccidiosis drug), and Livacox Q (anticoccidiosis vaccine) in terms of their effects on the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in broilers. In this study, 280 Ross 308 broiler chickens (a mix of both genders) were used in a completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 5 replications each including 8 chickens per replicate. On d 21 of rearing, all experimental groups, except for the negative control group (NC), were challenged with a mixed suspension of common strains of Eimeria, and the intended indices were assessed, including performance indices, number of oocysts per gram (OPG) of feces, intestinal injuries, and the total number of intestinal bacteria.

1. The following study was conducted to evaluate the influence of coccidiosis vaccine-induced metabolic stress on the utilisation of minerals in broilers. The starter, grower and finisher phase diets, including macro- and micro minerals at the recommended levels for the breed standards, were fed to chickens between 1 and 39 d of age.

Estimates of on-farm antimicrobial usage in egg production in the United States, 2016-2021.

Front Vet Sci

March 2023

Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN, United States.

Very few data exist globally regarding the use of antimicrobials in the table egg industry. Antimicrobial use data from broiler chickens and turkeys cannot be used as a surrogate of layer chickens because of the fact that table eggs for human consumption are produced daily by laying hens. To avoid the possibility of antimicrobial residues in the eggs, there are very few antimicrobials approved for use in layers in the U.
