Photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensors have exhibited a promising potential for assays of a large variety of analytes; however, how to realize their low background-based "super on" signal output is still a great challenge. Herein, we report a novel multiple nucleic acid amplification-assisted "on-off-super on" signal transition mechanism for the PEC biosensing of kanamycin antibiotics. The biosensing platform was constructed on a perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride-based photoelectrode, and its strong photocurrent could be well inhibited by an anchored ferrocene (Fc)-labeled hairpin DNA to produce a low background signal.

Quantitative detection of cardiac troponin biomarkers in blood is an important method for clinical diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). In this work, a whispering gallery mode (WGM) microcavity immunosensor based on a prefab hollow glass microsphere (HGMS) with liquid crystal (LC) sensitization was proposed and experimentally demonstrated for label-free cardiac troponin I-C (cTnI-C) complex detection. The proposed fiber-optic immunosensor has a simple structure; the tiny modified HGMS serves as the key sensing element and the microsample reservoir simultaneously.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of pimobendan on echocardiographic parameters of right ventricular and atrial function in healthy cats.
Animals: Eleven privately owned, healthy adult cats.
Material And Methods: Each cat underwent five echocardiographic examinations: the first and second examinations were performed 1 h apart on day 0.

Levosimendan, a calcium sensitizer, exerts inotropic action through improving left ventricular ejection fraction. We noticed that only few clinical studies are published in which the effects of levosimendan on cardiac function are studied by echocardiography. When screening the literature (PubMed, Embase, and CENTRAL, from inception to August 2020), we found 29 randomized controlled trials on levosimendan containing echocardiographic data.
