This study explores the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D/calcium/alkaline phosphatase (ALP) levels and kidney stone development via cross-sectional and Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses. We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013 to 2018 to explore the associations of 25(OH)D metabolite, calcium, and ALP levels with kidney stone development, LDSC analysis to determine the associations between their genetically predicted levels and kidney stone development, and MR analysis to determine the causality of those relationship via genome-wide association studies (GWASs). Ectopic calcifications occur in tendons, ligaments, entheses, muscles, and fasciae, and are often associated with pain and inflammation. In clinical settings, these calcifications are commonly treated by physical therapy and/or surgical interventions. However, there is not enough understanding of pharmacological treatments as primary cures, supportive therapy to physical or surgical treatment, or even preventive measures to avoid or diminish the development of ectopic calcifications.

Malnutrition is a significant concern for head and neck cancer (HNC) patients, as treatment often impairs mastication, causes dysphagia, and alters taste and smell, leading to reduced food intake and a diminished quality of life. Thus, this study aims to compare nutritional intake in HNC survivors using maxillofacial prostheses (MFPs) to healthy reference values and identify the factors influencing their dietary intake. The study included 56 patients treated for HNC undergoing rehabilitation with comfortable definitive dentures for over a month at the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Clinic of Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital.

Hypercalcemia is a frequently encountered laboratory finding in endocrinology, warranting accurate clinical and laboratory evaluation to identify its cause. While primary hyperparathyroidism and malignancies represent the most common causes, many other etiologies have been described, including some reports of hypercalcemia secondary to adrenal insufficiency. On the contrary, hypoparathyroidism is a relatively common cause of hypocalcemia, often arising as a complication of thyroid surgery.
