Symmetry: A Fundamental Resource for Quantum Coherence and Metrology.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Ens de Lyon, Université Lyon, CNRS, Laboratoire de Physique, F-69342 Lyon, France.

We introduce a new paradigm for the preparation of deeply entangled states useful for quantum metrology. We show that, when the quantum state is an eigenstate of an operator A, observables G which are completely off diagonal with respect to A have purely quantum fluctuations, as quantified by the quantum Fisher information, namely, F_{Q}(G)=4⟨G^{2}⟩. This property holds regardless of the purity of the quantum state, and it implies that off-diagonal fluctuations represent a metrological resource for phase estimation.

Visually appealing foods are often associated by consumers with subjective quality features, such as freshness, palatability, and shelf life. In the past, there have been repeated violations in which regulations on the use of pigments in food were ignored and/or unauthorized or toxic dyes (e.g.

Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into value-added chemicals offers a propitious alternative to traditional thermal methods, contributing to environmental remediation and energy sustainability. In this respect, covalent organic frameworks (COFs), are crystalline porous materials showcasing remarkable efficacy in CO2 fixation facilitated by visible light owing to their excellent photochemical properties. Herein, we employed Lewis acidic Zn(II) anchored pyrene-based COF (Zn(II)@Pybp-COF) to facilitate the photocatalytic CO2 utilization and transformation to 2-oxazolidinones.

Optically Transparent Carbon Electrodes for Single Entity Electrochemistry.

ACS Electrochem

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas 77843, United States.

We demonstrate the application and benefit of optically transparent carbon electrodes (OTCEs) for single entity nanoelectrochemistry. OTCEs are prepared by pyrolyzing thin photoresist films on fused quartz coverslips to create conductive, transparent, thin films. Optical, electrical, topographical, and electrochemical properties of OTCEs are characterized to evaluate their suitability for single entity electrochemistry.
