The unique characteristics of metasurfaces to precisely control the amplitude, phase, and polarization of light within a thin, flat footprint make them a promising replacement for bulky optical components. However, fabrication methods of conventional metasurfaces have suffered from low throughput and high costs, limiting scalability and practical application. To address these challenges, an advanced fabrication technique is developed by combining deep-ultraviolet argon fluoride photolithography with wafer-scale nanotransfer printing to facilitate the scalable fabrication of metal-insulator-metal structures.

Liver cancer is globally the most frequent fatal malignancy, and its identification is critical for making clinical decisions about treatment options. Pathological diagnostics and contemporary imaging technologies provide insufficient information for tumor identification. Hydrogen peroxide (HO), an emerging biomarker is a powerful oxidant found in the tumor microenvironment, and stimulates the invasion, proliferation, and metastasis of liver cancer cells.

This is the first study to investigate the possible release of microplastic-derived dissolved organic matter (MP-DOM) in water from three major types of bio-based MPs, namely, polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) and PLA-PHA mixtures, under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation conditions. At an initial MP concentration of approximately 5 g per liter, the release of MP-DOM from the studied MPs ranged from 1.55 to 6.

In this work, temperature-responsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and the ‌guanylthiourea (GLA) were used to modify chitosan (CS) to prepare a novel PNIPAM/GLA/CS adsorbent for Ag(I) ions. Temperature variations near the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) facilitate the adjustment of functional group distribution within the composite material, thereby influencing its adsorption performance for silver ions. The characteristics of this composite material were confirmed using a variety of techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), variable-temperature ultraviolet-visible near-infrared spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Despite extensive research, determining the optimal level of sunlight exposure for human health remains a challenge, emphasizing the need for ongoing scientific inquiry into this critical aspect of human well-being. This review aims to elucidate how different components of the solar spectrum, particularly near-infrared (NIR) radiation and ultraviolet radiation (UVR) affect human health in diverse ways depending on factors such as time of day and duration of exposure. Sunlight has beneficial effects from the production of melatonin by NIR and vitamin D by UVB.
