Identification of Two Flavonoids as New and Safe Inhibitors of Kynurenine Aminotransferase II via Computational and In Vitro Study.

Pharmaceuticals (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratory of Biotechnology, National Higher School of Biotechnology, Ville Universitaire (University of Constantine 3), Ali Mendjeli, BP E66, Constantine 25100, Algeria.

Kynurenine aminotransferase II (KAT-II) is a target for treating several diseases characterized by an excess of kynurenic acid (KYNA). Although KAT-II inactivators are available, they often lead to adverse side effects due to their irreversible inhibition mechanism. This study aimed to identify potent and safe inhibitors of KAT-II using computational and in vitro approaches.

In response to the intensifying competition in the mold market and the increasingly stringent specifications of die forgings, the existing 55NiCrMoV7 (MES 1 steel) material can no longer meet the elevated demands of customers. Consequently, this study systematically optimizes the alloy composition of MES 1 steel by precisely adjusting the molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V) contents. The primary objective is to significantly enhance the microstructure and thermal-mechanical fatigue performance of the steel, thereby developing a high-performance, long-life hot working die steel designated as MES 2 steel.

Reverse vaccinology: A strategy also used for identifying potential vaccine antigens in poultry.

Electronic address:

Vaccination of livestock plays a major role in improving animal health, welfare and productivity, but also in public health by preventing zoonotic diseases. Advances in bioinformatics and whole-genome sequencing techniques since the 2000s have led to the development of genome-based vaccinology, called reverse vaccinology. Reverse vaccinology is a rapid and competitive strategy that uses pathogen genome sequences to screen for and identify potential vaccine antigens and, unlike conventional methods, does not require culturing the pathogenic microorganism, at least initially.

Background/objectives: Adenoviral vector-based vaccines against COVID-19 rarely cause vaccine-induced immune thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (VITT), a severe adverse reaction caused by IgG antibodies against platelet factor 4 (PF4). To study VITT, patient samples are crucial but have become a scarce resource. Recombinant antibodies (rAbs) derived from VITT patient characteristic amino acid sequences of anti-PF4 IgG are an alternative to study VITT pathophysiology.

Multi-Strategy Improved Red-Tailed Hawk Algorithm for Real-Environment Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Path Planning.

Biomimetics (Basel)

January 2025

Laboratory for Robot Mobility Localization and Scene Deep Learning Technology, Guizhou Equipment Manufacturing Polytechnic, Guiyang 550025, China.

In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology has advanced significantly, enabling its widespread use in critical applications such as surveillance, search and rescue, and environmental monitoring. However, planning reliable, safe, and economical paths for UAVs in real-world environments remains a significant challenge. In this paper, we propose a multi-strategy improved red-tailed hawk (IRTH) algorithm for UAV path planning in real environments.
